Atlantic Slave Trade Experience
The Atlantic Slave Trade Experience is a 4-day, 3-night cultural experience hosted by the offices of Student Identity and Engagement and International Services. The trip takes place annually during Fall Break and explores the historical roots of the Atlantic Slave Trade as well as contemporary issues affecting communities in New Orleans, LA. The cultural excursion includes tours of the Evergreen Plantation, the most intact slave plantation in the South, the Whitney Plantation, the Lower 9th Ward, and participation in a Lower 9th Ward community revitalization project. Students also have opportunities to engage in dialogue with experts and scholars.
